There is a movement among some people in the United States of America to take away a woman’s right to choose. Like all groups, these people are not a monolith. There are differences among them and failure to acknowledge that leads to the same problems that come from casting any group as a monolith. Some are respectable and talk about viability of the fetus vs the mother’s health and life. Some are less so and talk about the rights of a two cell zygote (that may or may not even attach to the uterus five to seven days later), which seems, in their opinions, to be more important that the life of a woman. The latter are the ones I’m going to write about here.
Some of my thoughts on voting
I’ve heard and read a lot of different things about voting lately. Everything from both parties accusing the other of voting fraud, disenfranchisement efforts by large organizations, exhortations about the grand and glorious right that is voting and the almost ethereal privilege that voting is, to the idea of abstaining from voting on ethical grounds.
